The Vision of Advent is to be a family of believers in Jesus Christ that:

1. GlorifiesGod through worship that is spiritually uplifting, powerful, and inclusive.
2. Strives to Grow in Christ's likeness.
3. Serves others through a variety of programs to help those in need in our congregation, our communities and our world.
4. Works to Expand the Kingdom of God by reaching out into our communities.
5. Nurtures each other in our spiritual journeys.
6. Values the diversity of our God-given gifts and encourages one another to discover, develop, and use our God-given gifts in faithful response to God's call.
7. Entrusts the responsibilities of the parish, not just to the ordained, but also to each member.
   

Advent's Statement of Values:

1. Worship & Music - The focal point of congregational life is in our worship, focused on God's Word and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. We are committed to providing excellence in our preaching, music, and worship life.
2. Prayer - All things are guided by and supported through prayer. Prayer is both an individual and communal act which supports and intercedes the needs of individuals, the Church, and the whole world.
3. Learning - Growth in faith comes through engagement in the scriptures and the traditions of the faith. Learning for all ages is at the center of our learning ministries. Learning not only nurtures adults in their own spiritual journeys but also equips them to pass the faith on to our children and other adults. Learning for young people is carried out in partnership with parents.
4. Lay Ministry - We value each other's gifts, given by God for doing his work. We encourage each member to use his/her gifts actively in the ministries of the congregation.
5. Stewardship - Faith produces generous hearts. We recognize that all we are and have is a gift from God to be used for God's glory. Thus, we have a commitment to grow in giving our financial resources, time and talents to the work of the church.
6. Hospitality - We provide a place where all people are welcome and where members of the congregation enthusiastically welcome newcomers and invite others to share in the life of Advent.
7. Ministry Teams - We are committed to use "Ministry Teams" that facilitate vital, growing ministries at Advent, help us recognize and develop our spiritual gifts, and encourage participation in our ministries by all members.
