Join us Sunday, September 5th, in the Fellowship Hall for our Apple Theme First Sunday Fellowship.  We are asking those who would like to participate to bring a favorite apple treat (e.g. apple pie, apple sauce, apple dumplings, etc) to share.  This event will take place between the services and begin immediately following the 8:30 service.  Food will be moved to the kitchen once Sunday school begins and the fellowship will continue in the Narthex.  For questions about September's First Sunday Fellowship, please contact Jenn Deeter at j-deeter@hotmail.com or 937-5677.

The adult choir annual kickoff potluck is scheduled for August 26 at 7:00 p.m.  The adult choir rehearses on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.  We always welcome new members to any of the choirs.  Contact Jean Pontious at 975-6025 with any questions.

FINANCIAL UPDATE

In July, the giving was lower than budgeted and anticipated. The use of air conditioning in the hot days of July caused the electric bill to be about $300 higher than normal.

JACOB’S PORCH

Pastor Gamlin presented about Jacob’s Porch, a Lutheran church on The Ohio State University campus. He gave us some history as to how Jacob’s Porch came into existence and where its vision and mission are for the future. The church averages 60-100 worshippers per week. The student presented from the students’ perspective and how happy students are that they have a strong church community on campus. There are 38 Lutheran churches within 15 miles of Jacob’s Porch and Jacob’s Porch is reaching out to these local churches for help in maintaining this church’s mission.  

PARISH LIFE

In addition to the Greeters who greet people at the door, the Team would like to have members assigned to seek out visitors and welcome them. The Team would like to have an outside-of-church ministry to meet with visitors and prospective members. Places like Panera would be used. The goal would be to allow people to come to an informal setting where people can ask questions about Advent.

Join the Go-Getters Adventure.  Our next meeting will be on Friday, August 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church Brats Festival located at Hilliard Rome Road and Trabue.  Sign up in the Narthex.  Contact persons Christine Reik at 326-0523.
