THANKSGIVING INGATHERING

As many of you will remember, a new outreach program was embarked upon in 2006. This was the Thanksgiving Ingathering project. As you may recall, members of Advent donated bags of specific food items and these bags were transported to LSS for distribution prior to Thanksgiving Day, so the needy could also enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner. Due to the overwhelming success of this ministry, we are asking you for your help again. Those members wishing to donate bags of food, or to make a cash donation, or both, are asked to see the display and sign up sheet in the narthex.

These food items need to be brought to Advent starting November 11, 2007. On Monday, November 19, 2007, they will be transported to LSS and then distributed.

The following items need to be in each bag::

1. A box of stuffing (6 ounce size).
2. Four medium sized baking potatoes.
3. Two containers of gravy (each being the 12 oz size).
4. Two cans of vegetables (corn, or beets, or green beans, or mixed vegetables - 14.5 ounces).
5. One can of cranberry sauce (16 ounce size).
6. A container of cookies (18 ounce or larger)

One bag generally serves three to four people. Obviously, a "needy family" may receive two or three bags, depending on the size of their family.
