God's work. Our hands..png

AdventELC will soon engage in service work right here in our community. We are one of over 8,900 congregations participating in “God’s work. Our hands.” Across the country on Sunday, September 11, 2022 thousands of people from the church will engage in service work to make a positive change in our communities, build and deepen relationships, and, as always, share God’s love!

Join us as we roll up our sleeves

and get to doing God’s work with our hands!

Whether you bring in school supplies for Columbus children or bring in items for homeless blessing bags, these service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutheran Christians: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

In previous years we were able to...

  • 97 Blessing Bags were filled and made available to the congregation!

  • My Family and Me provided us with 100 "Jesus is a Life Saver" bags of life savers to include in the Blessing Bags!

  • The other 40 or so bags we filled with just socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, the resource insert, etc. are being passed out by the Youth at Loaves and Fish tonight!!!

  • 18 beds were delivered by three Bed Brigade Teams!

  • Sr High youth helped out with the Salvation Army Canteen Truck and served about 70 meals to the hungry

This year we hope you'll join us!

  • The Bed Brigade – meet at the church on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 9:00 AM – questions, contact Bob Swinehart

  • Blessing Bags for the Homeless – donated items (TRAVEL SIZE ONLY!) accepted through Sunday, Sept. 11th. Place in bin in the Narthex. Once the team assembles the bags, each family in the congregation will receive a bag on the following Sundays. Keep them in your car and if you see someone in need at a corner or street, give them the bag that it may be a blessing to them.  For questions, contact Jennifer Parker.
