Here is our 2015 picture page

Here at Advent Lutheran Church, we love to take pictures.  With so many things going on, in and around the church, a great way to share and show others what we are up to is through pictures!

We invite you to take a look at the pictures that interest you and if you have any questions about the ministries you see, please let us know!

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

On Sunday, October 4, at 4:00 PM, Advent celebrated its 21st annual "Blessing of the Animals"--a special outdoor service of thanksgiving and prayer for the living treasures of God's good creation.

All animals and their human companions came on a beautiful day of sunshine and blessing! -14 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bunny and 3 snakes accompanied by 37 people attended the blessing.

Many of those attending brought a SMALL bag or can of cat or dog food to donate to LSS Food Pantries.

Thanks to Pastor Ralph Wolfe of Clinton Heights Lutheran Church for his message and guitar playing!

God's Work.  Our Hands. 2015
“God’s work. Our hands.” weekend is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as a church as we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

  • Thrivent Builds (Habitat for Humanity for a day)

  • Loaves and Fish (Sunday, September 13 in the afternoon)

  • My Family & Me

  • Nursing Home Visit

  • Youth Landscaping Project

Couldn't make it to any of our service projects that weekend?  No problem!

Many brought in school supplies and place in box in the Narthex for children at a Columbus Middle School and/or non-perishable food items for an LSS Food Pantry!  We collected 95 items for the food pantry!

Annual Thanksgiving In-Gathering

Each year, members of Advent sign up to bring so many bags of particular items that are typically used in connection with a Thanksgiving Dinner. For example, each bag contains: 3 cans of vegetables, a box of stuffing, box of cookies, 4 baking potatoes, 1 can of cranberry sauce, 2 containers of gravy and 2 cans of fruit. These bags are brought into Advent around Thanksgiving and then are transported  to LSS for distribution. Each bag is designed to feed a family of four. If a family is larger than 4 individuals, they receive an extra bag. Cash donations that are provided by the membership are used to buy additional bags containing the same items. Matching funds received from Thrivent provide butter and whole chickens which are also purchased to supplement the bags of groceries that are donated by the members of Advent. This enables the less fortunate to truly be thankful on Thanksgiving Day.  Contact person is Larry Seifert.
