My name is Jaren Summers and I am a student at Trinity Lutheran Seminary working on earning my Master of Divinity degree. I plan on being ordained in Word and Sacrament so that I can serve as a pastor at a parish in the future. I am married to my beautiful wife, named Kendra. We have been married since March 24, 2019 and met our first week in undergrad at Ball State University. Kendra and I also have a beloved cat named Paisley who is a grey tabby and who brings us much happiness. We moved to Columbus from Muncie, Indiana at the end of June 2020.

I earned my B.S. in Social Studies Education and am licensed to teach history and political science from grades 6-12 in the state of Indiana. Kendra earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Ball State University and has a passion for working with children ages 4-6.

I am so blessed to be serving here at Advent Lutheran Church. I am constantly learning from my experiences and have met such great people. I am passionate about sharing God’s grace with all people and hope to provide comfort to all who are on this journey of faith. My favorite book of the Bible is the Book of Acts because I love learning about the early church from a historical perspective and I find it so exciting to read about the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit makes God known throughout the church and the world. I am also passionate about interfaith initiatives and have worked to bring people together across religious, political, and economic divides.

 

I am excited to spread God’s love here at Advent Lutheran Church and look forward to meeting you whenever we have the chance. When you arrive at church, please do not hesitate to introduce yourself. Also, feel free to ask me about my faith story and how I was called to ministry. I would love to share this with you and I would especially enjoy learning about your faith story as well.
